Wow what an awesome course! Great trail and experience for my first Mid Mountain! I'll break down the milage spec's when I'm able to plug in the Garmin.
Brother G and I decided to bust this trail race out. Great temps - the only misleading thing about this race is "it's all downhill". Wahahaaa for the first 20 plus miles it's basically a grinder with .25 to .50 downs thrown in here and there. The last few miles you do get some sweet downhill if your legs can handle it. I felt great throughout the whole run, although my nose was draining the entire time. Allergies are at a max up here - plus they had just cut all the edges of the trail where they could, so breathing and nose were my biggest enemies today. I beleive 300 started and about that finished.
Splits as my Garmin 205 recorded them. First half 8:50, 10:29, 10:16, 9:35, 8:54, 9:40, 9:18, 9:15, 9:58, 9:51, 11:21, 9:51, 9:45 - Felt pretty good on the grinders looking forward to the downhill that kept getting farther and farther away.
Second Half: 10:44, 11:02, 13:06, 11:42, 14:12 (went weaksauce here for some unknown reason - I think this was the jeep trail climb up to the top of one of the peaks) , 12:57, 13:20, 11:00, 8:54, 13:27, 10:04, 9:00
Also - my watch had it at Total Ascent: 4,697 and Descent: 5,748.. These seem iffy but you never know what covering 26 miles does..
Bro G' had an excellent race as usual! I think he hides hoofs under those big shoes of his.
